Summit won the "The Iron Hills Second Place Bowl"
in double overtime. Odette Nemes went to the foul line
with Summit up 1 and only 9 seconds to play. She calmly drained
both shots to give Summit a 3 point lead. However, no one relaxed
because in a similar situation at the end of the first overtime
Summit fouled Moriis Hills' Unick with 5 seconds left. Unfortunately
she was shooting a 3 pointer and was entitled to 3 free throws.
She sank them all to send the game into a 2nd overtime. But history
didn't repeat and Summit took home the victory. Both Summit and
Morris Hills had entered the game at 8-1 with the winner taking
over undisputed 2nd place in the conference. Just as last year,
it seems that 2nd place in the Iron Hills Conference will come
down to a battle between these two schools. So winning the game
at Morris Hills gives Summit a big leg up. Summit
was back at full strength with Marrisa Kellog and Stephanie
Bruce back in the lineup. They contributed 20 points between
them. Danielle Proper led Summit with 16 points. However,
the scoring spotlight was on MH's Jessica Unick who topped 1000
points for her career with a game high 24 points. Summit had a
great day at the foul line as they sank 14 of their 17 attempts
(82%).
