Parsippany 2 7 16 13 38

The celebration of senior day almost turned into a disaster. The game seemed very well in hand at halftime. Summit was ahead by 7 points and Parsippany seemed unable to generate any offense. However, things took a turn for the worse. The tables were completely turned as Summit struggled for any offense and Parsippany began finding holes in Summit's defense. By the end of the third quarter Summit's 7 point lead had been eliminated and the momentum was clearly with Parsippany. As the 4th quarter began Parsippany quickly took a 5 point lead (32 - 27), and in a revesal of the usual scenario, their pressing defense caused Summit to turn the ball over repeatedly. Their lead grew as high as 7 and with under 2 minutes left it stood at five, but time was running out. Then two quick baskets suddenly cut the lead to one. With under a minute left there was a major turning point. A Parsippany player protested a call in language that apparently offended the Referee who, in turn, called a technical foul. Odette Nemes stepped to the line and drained two free throws to give Summit a one point lead. With 30 seconds left Nemes was fouled again and went to the line with a one-and-one. She calmly sank the both to gain a three point lead. Parsippany failed on a three pointer and Lauren McMenamy scored the final two points at the buzzer. Houdini would of been proud of the escape act Summit pulled off.

Of the players who saw action today all but Danielle Proper were seniors. There was good news in that Stephanie Bruce is expected to be ready to play in next week's game.
