Summit got off to a great start, building a 10 point 1st quarter
lead helped by Marissa Kellogg's nine points.. Union slowly
climbed back into the game over the next two quarters and got
to within 4 points late in the 3rd quarter. However, the 4th quarter
was all Summit as they played possibly their best quarter of the
season. They literally swept Union off the court. Danielle
Proper, who had been in foul trouble, returned to the game
with fresh legs at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Proper
and Bita Yektashenas led the charge, garnering 14
points between them. But it was truly an awesome performance by
the whole team. Marissa Kellogg led Summit with 18 points.
Yektashenas has come on strong since Stephanie Bruce went
down with an ankle injury. In the last three games she has averaged
almost 10 points per game. Summit now faces Elizabeth (the top
seed) in the Finals on Saturday.
