Jessica Arnold & Emily Gamble defeated Dalit Gross & Mackenzie Parke (6-3, 6-0) to gain Summit's only point against Livingston. Tina Kaufmann had a hard fought battle at 3rd singles but lost a three-setter to Samantha Evans 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-4. In the other matches Allison Johnson lost to Elyse Salahi (6-1, 6-0), Erin Arnold lost to Grace Wu (6-2, 6-1) and Julie Krell & Liz Bomgaars lost to Betty Chen and Sheetal Shah (6-4, 6-1).
Summit defeated Moorestown 3-2 to win its first ever Group 2 Tennis Title. Erin Arnold won her 2nd Singles match (6-1, 6-0) against Amy Huah and Tina Kaufmann, 3rd Singles, won a tough match (6-3, 7-5) against Julia Grayer. Summit's third, and decisive, point came when Jessica Arnold and Emily Gamble won a three set match (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) against Jane Hipple and Kate Quann. Moorestown got it's two points when Kristen Carlin beat Allison Johnson (6-1, 6-1) and Kristen Klepacki and Jen Wright defeated Liz Bomgaars and Julie Krell (6-2, 6-2).
Earlier in the day Summit easily defeated Indian Hills 4-1 to gain the Group 2 Finals. Erin Arnold defeated Courtney Levine (6-1, 6-0) and Tina Kaufmann defeated Becky MacMillan (6-2, 6-0) at 2nd and 3rd singles. Jessica Arnold & Emily Gamble defeated Alexis Anastos and Edna Guerrasio (6-0, 6-0) while Julie Krell & Liz Bomgaars defeated Sarah Russo and Alyssa Norden (6-1, 6-1). Indian Hills' point came when Avantika Bhargava scored a 6-3, 6-0 win over Allison Johnson.
The First Round of the Tournament of Champions will be played at the Inman Racquet Club in Edison on Saturday October 31. Fifth seeded Summit will meet fourth seeded Livingston at 3PM and Red Bank Catholic (3rd Seed) meets Haddonfield (6th Seed) at 5PM.
The Semifinals will be on Monday November 2nd and the Finals at 2PM Wednesday. If Summit wins on Saturday they will play the top seeded, and defending Champion, Newark Academy in the Semi Finals.
Summit won its first Sectional Championship since 1985 by defeating Chatham 3-2. This win avenged last years loss to Chatham in the sectional finals. Allison Johnson lost a heartbreaker to Sarah Haengle 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 and Erin Arnold lost a tough match to Sarah Scardelli 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Tina Kaufmann defeated Marie Papalia 6-4, 6-2. This reversed one of only two losses Tina Kaufmann had suffered in the regular season meeting with Chatham. Jessica Arnold and Emily Gamble, playing 1st doubles, won a tough three set battle with Shannon Connors and Jen Mulligan 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. In yet another three setter Liz Bomgaars and Julie Krell came from behind to beat Maggie Scolon and Emily Yurachek 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.
