This was an important victory. It got the team back on
track as they rallied to win and break a 3 game losing streak.
It gave the team a boost as they face their final three conference
foes. Paul Krupa went the distance on the mound and took
his record to 3-2. After falling behind 5-0, Summit out scored
Caldwell 10-2 over the final 4 innings. Summit picked up 3 runs
in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Mike Nelson drew a
lead off walk and went to 3rd on a single by Ryan Carey.
Jon Campagna singled to drive in Nelson and Carey
came home when the shortstop missed the cutoff throw. Nick
Monaco walked and a double by Adam Breene drove in
Campagna.
Summit took the lead with 6 runs in the 5th inning. Nelson
and Carey singled and Campagna doubled to score
them both. Campagna scored when the Shortstop booted a
ground ball by Monaco. Breene singled and Monaco
and Breene were driven in by a Nelson single. The
final run came in the 6th when Campagna was hit by the
pitcher, stole second and came home on a Breene single.
Nelson and Carey each went 2 for 3, Breene
had another 3 for 4 game, but Campagna had the biggest
day going 3 for 3 with a triple, double and a single and picking
up 3 RBIs.
The Parsippany makeup game has been set for Friday May 19th
at Parsippany.
