For three innings things were looking pretty good as Summit took a 3-1 lead and Paul Krupa was very effective. The situation was aided by two pick-offs by Krupa and an unassisted double play by Jon Campagna. Things went downhill in the 4th inning when Cranford began to hit Krupa. Five singles and a couple of Summit errors resulted in 5 Cranford runs, two of them unearned. In the bottom of the 5th Summit picked up 2 runs to make it a 6-5 game, but that would be a close as Summit would get. Mike D'Ecclessis took over the pitching chores in the 6th inning and gave up five runs to make the final score 11-5.

Summit picked up two runs in the 1st inning . Ryan Carey led off with a single and was moved to third base when Matt Benedetti (who was playing in spite of his "mono") doubled. Carey scored on a ground out and Benedetti came home when Adam Breene cracked a double. A third run was added in the 2nd inning when Carey stroked a two out single and stole second. He scored when Benedetti singled. Summit's final runs came in the 5th inning. Campagna singled and Rob Delgado and Chris Kaiser were walked. Krupa singled to drive in two runners.
