Summit moved closer to .500 (9-10) with this victory
over Mt. Olive. Paul Krupa pitched a complete game and
gave up only 6 hits and 2 runs over the 7 innings. Summit's first
inning run came when Mike Nelson, who returned to the
lineup for the first time in over two weeks, drew a walk and
then promptly stole 2nd and 3rd. A single by Jon Campagna
allowed him to score. Summit added two more in the 3rd inning
as Campagna got on via a fielder's choice, stole 2nd base
and scored on Nick Monaco's single. Adam Breene's
single moved Monaco into scoring position and he scored when
Paul Krupa helped his own cause with an RBI single. The
4th inning featured two more Summit runs. Matt Williams
had a lead off double, Nelson and Monaco were walked
to load the bases and Breene singled to drive in the two
runs. Summit's final 2 runs came in the 6th inning as Breene
and Krupa singled and then scored when the Mt. Olive 3rd
baseman threw the ball away on a Ryan Carey ground
ball. |
