Parsippany eliminated Summit from any chance of making
the state tournament. Summit needed to have a great game, both
on the mound and at bat, to keep its state hopes alive and to
revive its spirits after losing 6 of the last 7 games. However,
the day was dark and rainy and not a day conducive to good pitching.
Once Summit fell behind and the weather deteriorated there wasn't
much hope. With a soggy baseball it was hard to throw with any
accuracy. Parsippany was aided by the fact that the Summit pitchers
gave up 13 walks. Matt Williams started, and took the
loss. He was followed by James Sivertsen in the 4th inning,
but with the slippery ball, Sivertsen had trouble keeping the
ball in the strike zone. Mike D'Ecclessis came on for
the final two outs of the game. |
