Mike D'Ecclessis took over at right field in the 8th inning and delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the inning. That hit brought home Jon Campagna, who had been hit by the pitcher and then stole 2nd base, with the winning run. In the first two innings things looked good for a Summit victory as they jumped to an 8-2 lead. However, five unearned runs by Par Hills in the 3rd inning turned it into an 8-7 game. Par Hills took a 9-8 lead in the 4th inning with a pair of doubles and a single. But, Pitcher Matt Williams rose to the occasion and held Par Hills scoreless for the remaining 4 innings. Summit tied the game in the 6th inning. With two outs the Par Hills catcher interfered with Mike Nelson and Nelson was awarded 1st base. Campagna then drew his 3rd walk of the game, and Matt Benedetti delivered a single to drive Nelson home. In the bottom of the seventh, singles by Adam Breene and Rob Delgado were followed by a nice sacrifice bunt by Chris Kaiser. That put runners at 2nd and 3rd with only one out. A walk to Williams loaded the bases and raised the expectations of the fans, but two pop ups ended the inning and sent the game into extra innings.
