There isn't much to say about this game. Weequahic is fielding a team for the first time in quite a few years and there isn't much talent available yet. It is to their credit that they continue to work to build a program in that face of some bad defeats. This was a game that was out of reach for Weequahic almost from the first pitch.

Paul Krupa, Matt Benedetti and Mike D'Ecclessis combined to pitch a three hit shut out. The rules say that to be considered the winning pitcher a starter must pitch at least 4 innings. Since starter Krupa only pitched 2 innings the win was assigned to Benedetti.

In some ways what didn't happen may be more significant to the Summit season than what did happen. What didn't happen was that both Matt Williams and Mike Nelson did not play. Williams was hit in the groin in the Morris Hills game and the pain and swelling has increased since then. It appears that Nelson may be out of action for a couple of weeks with a case of the dreaded "mono". The temporary loss of those two will put a significant dent in both the offense and the defense.
