For three quarters Summit just couldn't get its shooting on track. At the end of the 1st quarter Summit had hit on only 2 of 13 shots, but was tied 6-6 by virtue of some tough defense. The 2nd quarter was a different story as Hanover Park grabbed a commanding lead behind a barrage of 4 3-pointers while Summit continued to misfire from the field. By the end of the half Summit had connected on but 6 of their 26 shots. This trend continued through the 3rd quarter and things looked pretty hopeless with HP up by twenty points at 42-22. However, Coach Maxwell must have really stoked a fire in the players because they came out playing ferocious defense and some shots finally began to fall. Ryan Carey, who had been held scoreless through three quarters, racked up 10 points and Kurt Forsyth tossed in 12 of his total of 17 points. The 20 point lead suddenly was cut to 9, but HP's free throws were enough to save the win. In the final quarter HP sank 15 of their 22 free throw. In fact HP held a 23 to 5 margin at the free throw line for the entire game.
