Summit came into this game hoping to avenge two previous losses to a very tough (9-2) Hanover Park team and keep their 5 game winning streak alive. It was an exciting battle right down to the final buzzer. Midway through the 3rd quarter Summit was down 25-26 when Ryan Carey connected on a pair of 3-pointers to give Summit a 5 point lead. A Hanover Park field goal brought the 3rd quarter to an end with Summit ahead by 3 points. Early in the 4th quarter Hanover Park tied the score at 31. Jon Campagna answered the call with a basket to regain the lead. However, HP ran off the next 8 points to grab a 6 point lead before a basket by Campagna broke the string. An HP basket and 2 free throws restored HP's lead to 8 points. But, another 3-point field goal by Carey followed by Carey's 3 free throws kept Summit in the game 41-45. Hanover Park hit a layup to make it a 6 point difference, but Kurt Forsyth answered with a 3-pointer. With under a minute left it was now a 3 point difference. Summit had a final chance to tie the game, but a 3 point try failed to drop with 10 seconds left. During the scramble for the rebound the referee called "time out white" seemingly indicating that Summit had control of the ball, but the refs awarded to ball to HP, much to the consternation of the Summit fans.

Carey led the Summit scoring with 20 points and Forsyth had 13. Hanover Park scored 10 of their 4th quarter points from the foul line, while Summit hit only 3 of their final 7 free throws. Summit fell to 7-5, with 3 of the 5 losses coming at the hands of Hanover Park. The postponement of the Parsippany Hills game until after the State tournament cutoff date assures Summit of a slot in the tournament.
