Summit came from behind in the 4th quarter to send the
game into overtime. They were behind 39-42 as the quarter started
but goals by Ryan Carey and Gereno Tan vaulted
Summit into a 43-42 lead early in the quarter. A 3-pointer by
Morris Hill put them ahead again by 2 points. However,a field
goal and free throw by Lamar Freeman was followed by a
FG and free throw by Kurt Forsyth and Summit up 51-49.
After another MH field goal tied it at 51-51, Freeman
drained two free throws to make it 53-51 with a little over a
minute to play. Morris Hills came right back with a layup to
tie it again at 53-53. Summit got the ball with about 50 seconds
on the clock and were holding for the last shot. However, things
went wrong and Morris Hills scored to grab a 2 point lead again.
With 10 sec. left Forsyth drove the lane and was fouled.
He calmly sank both shots to send the game into overtime.
Forsyth started the overtime period by sinking a layup
and was fouled. He made the free throw and Summit went ahead
58-55. After two Morris Hill free throws, Jon Campagna
hit a jumper and a free throw and Summit was up 4 points with
less than a minute to play, things began to look good. But,To
our horror, MH hit an NBA length desperation 3 pointer to close
the gap back to 1 point. Three free throws by Carey put
the game on ice and a Carey layup at the end was the icing
on the cake.
Forsyth, Carey and Campagna were all
in double figures with 18, 17, and 14 points respectively. Summit's
next game is Friday 2/18 at 6PM against Parsippany (at home). |
