Summit opened with a swarming full court press and disoriented
the Mt. Olive offense. It forced numerous turnovers. However,
a few missed layups kept Summit's 1st quarter lead to 13-9. Summit
built a 25-15 halftime lead when Ryan Carey hit 5 of 6
free throws and Dan Dugan added 5 points from the field.
Summit seemed to have trouble putting Mt. Olive away and they
closed to within 5 points in the 3rd quarter but a pair of 3s
from Jason Holmes kept the Hilltoppers in front by 9 entering
the 4th quarter. A burst of 4th quarter scoring by Kurt Forsyth
(10 points) and Carey (6 points) brought the win home. Down the
stretch Summit hit 10 of their 11 free throws. In fact Summit
had a great night at the foul line as they were successful on
22 of 24 attempts. Summit continued to have trouble getting the
ball to go through the hoop as the hit on 15 of 43 (35%) shots. |
