This game was much more competitive than the score might
lead you to believe. Well into the 2nd half Summit closed to
within 4 points and had the ball. However, a turnover and a 3-pointer
made it a 7 point margin for Plainfield. Things went downhill
in the 4th quarter as Summit began to foul in desperation and
Plainfield hit most of their free throws. In fact, Plainfield
hit 15 of 22 from the foul line while Summit made only 3 of 9
attempts, a 12 point difference. The game started badly for Summit
when Plainfield scored the first 8 points of the game. Summit
got thing turned around and actually out scored Plainfield 24-22
for the remainder of the half. The turnaround was paced by Kurt
Forsyth's 11 points and Ryan Carey's 7 points. The
game remained close until the very end of the 3rd quarter when
Plainfield moved to a 9 point lead. Summit had many opportunities
in the second half but just couldn't get the layups and short
jumpers to drop. Plainfield was very quick and forced a number
of turnovers down the stretch. Carey and Forsyth
were the only Summit players in double figures with 16 and 15
points respectively. Summit shot 44% for the game. |
