1st quarter off goals by Ned Britt, Matt Starker
and Keith Schroeder. Britt also got two assists.
Britt, Starker, Schroeder, Tim Martin
and J.P. Coviello each scored in the 2nd quarter to
build the lead to 8-2. Britt added three more goals in
the 2nd half to end with a game high five. Jeff Garibaldi,
Matt Tsiang and Rob Messner played great defense
as Mendham got only 15 shots. Mike Sartorius was great
in goal |

jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st quarter. West Morris to
make the score 4-2 in the 3rd quarter, but goals by Matt Starker
and Ned Britt made it 6-2 starting the 4th quarter. Unfortunately,
West Morris rallied with 4 unanswered goals to force overtime.
with only a minute left to play Ned Britt's shot deflected
off a player and barely made it into the gage to give Summit
their 10th straight victory. Starker, Britt and
J.P. Coviello each scored twice. Mike Sartorius
was outstanding in goal during the 3 overtime periods. Morris
Hills is ranked 7th in the state. |

Won 15-6 Summit jumped to a 3-1 lead behind
3 1st quarter goals by Ned Britt. But then Summit seemed
to lose its momentum and allowed Montclair to tie the score at
3-3. However, Summit regained their focus and ran off the next
6 goals (including 2 by Keith Schroeder and another goal
by Britt) to end the half 9-3. A goal by Ned Britt
(Assist from Tim Martin) and goal by Matt Starker
built the lead to 12 -4 entering the final quarter. Fourth quarter
goals by Martin (Assist by Starker), Keith Schroeder
, and Andrew Trombley led to the 15-6 final
score. Martin finished with 2 goals and 3 assists, while
Starker and Trombley each scored twice. Summit's
next game is Saturday, June 3rd, against Moorestown at Tatlock
Field. |

Moorestown-State Tourney |
Lost 6-5 Summit got off
to a fast start as Ned Britt scored in the 1st minute
off a great assist from Tim Martin. Two minutes later
J.P. Coviello returned the favor by assisting Tim Martin,
and Summit was up 2-0. After a Moorestown score Tim Martin
fed Keith Schroeder to rebuild the 2 goal lead. Moorestown
answered with another goal but before the quarter ended Tim
Martin set up Britt for his second goal. The half
ended with Summit ahead 4-2. Two minutes into the 2nd quarter
Britt fed Tim Martin and Summit had it's biggest
lead of the day at 5-2. At this point the momentum began to shift
toward Moorestown. In fact Summit went scoreless for the next
17 minutes. During that interval Moorestown scored 4 goals to
take a 6-5 lead. Fortunately, J. P. Coviello, with another
assist by Tim Martin, tied the game with 48 seconds left
in the 3rd quarter. During that 17 minute dry spell the Moorestown
goalie made made a couple of spectacular saves of shots by Britt.
The 4th quarter was a defensive struggle. Neither team scored
until Moorestown broke through and took a 7-6 lead with 2:13
left. The final two minutes were furious and Summit had a couple
of chances to tie, but they were turned away. Over the final
22 minutes the defense, anchored by Rob Messner, Todd
Ward, Jeff Garibaldi and Mike Sartorius, kept
Summit in the game as they held off wave after wave of Moorestown
offense. Ultimately they gave up two goals in that interval..
