At its meet on Friday, January 6, the Summit Girls Swim Team marked the halfway point in its season and defeated Union High School in a first place clean sweep, with big wins from Emma Vachal (200 Free), Bridget Devaney (200 IM), Isabella Estupinan (50 Free), Naya Kim (100 Free), Lauren Sexton (500 Free) and Emma Vatoci (100 Breast). The relay teams of Kim, Emily Hickey, Maria Gonzalez and Katherine Hicks (200 Free Relay) and Isabella Estupinan, Vachal, Hickey and Ellie Greene (400 Free Relay) completed the perfect run. Yet again, the Summit Girls team demonstrated its depth in the pool as they rose to 4-1 in Union County.
The Summit Boys Swim Team followed suit and rose to 3-1 as they, too, defeated Union High School on Jan 6. Notable wins came from the relay team of Ryan Smith, Kurt Brown, Charlie Vlass, and Jake Miller (200 Medley Relay), along with individual race wins from Charlie Moon (100 Free), and Jack Vargas (500 Free). The 200 Free Relay team of Ryan Fox, Bennett Harvey, Etienne Mbuyi and Kyle Dripchak secured the victory with their first place touch, as the boys showed their strength heading into the back half of the season.
Both teams swim again on Tuesday, January 10 at the Summit Area YMCA against Elizabeth High School.
