SumSwim Girls Glide Past Montgomery to the Sectional Finals

The Summit Girls Swim Team jumped ahead early during its state sectional semifinal meet against Montgomery HS on Tues, Feb 14 and never looked back. The team finished first in all 3 relays, taking the lead in a total of 9 of 11 events, and racking up the points. Senior Captains Natalie Dripchak, Cece Webb, and Lauren Sexton aided in the win and Summit once again showed its depth with significant contributions from underclassmen. Sophomore Sidney Arcella achieved two Meet of Champions qualifying times with a 1:54.81 in the 200-yd Free and a 58.71 in the 100-yd Butterfly. The final score was 105-65. The girls swim again on Thursday against Chatham at the Raritan Bay YMCA for the state sectional title.

SumSwim Boys Face Heartbreak on Valentine’s Day

Unfortunately, the Summit boys faced heartbreak as they saw their season come to an end on that same day following their state sectional semifinal meet against Princeton. Senior Captains Devin Tapia, Bennett Harvey, and Ryan Smith contributed points alongside their underclassmen teammates, and Junior Will Moon (1:46.09) and Freshman Kyle Dripchak (4:49.80) achieved MOC qualifying times in the 200-yd Free and 500-yd Free, respectively. Despite Summit’s first or second place finishes in 8 of 11 races and the lead changing hands twice during the meet, Summit wasn’t able to hold off the Tigers, ending the contest with a score of 72-98. The boys have much to be proud of, earning a record of 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the UCC.
