The Hilltoppers are going to wish they had this one back, as they took a 5-3 lead into the 3rd period and weren’t able to emerge with a victory.
Summit took an early 2-0 lead on the strength of goals by Ashlyn Messer (assisted by Elizabeth Puskar) and Bridget Grennon (assisted by Taylor Cornell). Pingry narrowed the margin with a goal of their own, but Cornell (assisted by Puskar and Grennon) kept the lead at 2 going into the second period.
Summit and Pingry traded goals in the 2nd. Messer scored on the power play (assisted by Cornell and Charlotte Zahn). Pingry scored back-to-back goals to make the margin 4-3. Once again, Summit pushed the margin to 2 when Finley Beard lit the lamp (assisted by Messer and Lilah Darcy).
Pingry scored early in the 3rd and then added the equalizer with under a minute remaining – final score, 5-5.
