Girls Middle School Basketball takes down Readington, 38-24

Bouncing back from a disappointing loss to J.P. Case earlier in the week, the SMS Girls Basketball team took it to Readington tonight in the away gym. Sparked by 5 three-pointers by Emma Ryan, all in the first half, the team jumped out to a 22-12 lead at halftime.

Readington came out strong in the 3rd quarter. After Elsie Fosgate made a field goal for Summit, Readington went on a 9-0 run to close the gap to 24-21. Emma Easton took down 3 strong rebounds in consecutive possessions for Summit, eventually leading to field goals by Charlotte Yarnall and Jaina Shah.

The team was defensively very strong in the 4th quarter holding Readington’s strongest player scoreless in the last frame. Late field goals by Mackenna Welsh and Yarnall sealed the game.

Ryan finished with 19 points, leading the team. The girls next game is tomorrow night away at Franklin at 4pm.
