Summit Freshmen were able to earn a hard-fought come from behind draw against its best opponent to date, Scoth Plains. With only a twelve-player roster, and at one point ten players on the pitch, the team gave up its first goal of the season off a corner kick to end of the first half. The Hilltoppers were able to maintain their composure against a deep Scotch Plains bench and were awarded a penalty kick in the beginning of the second half, which was blasted by Sky Boggio for the equalizer. Despite the lack of players, Summit’s conditioning and endurance paid off as the boys held strong, even making forays into the opponent’s half of the pitch with chances to score off free kicks against Scotch Plains’ twenty-two player roster. Dean Mauriello held strong at centerback with Thomas Campbell (normally a center midfielder) moving back to right back to allow no second half goals with a final 1-1 draw.
