On the road on a beautiful Saturday morning, Lucas Gomez’s first game of the season started with a quick goal in the first minutes of the game. The Hilltoppers kept the pressure in front of the net with Summit connecting multiple passes ending in a convincing shot from Anton Ivanov for goal #2. Dean Mauriello’s free-kick to TJ Flack with nice hustle and leg extension for a winner goal #3. The barrage continued in the first half with a breakaway from Luke St. Amant and cross-shot past Linden’s keeper for goal number #4. Finishing the first half, a clear from TJ Flack to Anton Ivanov’s nice pass across goal to Lucas Gomez for goal # 5.
After a strong run down the left sideline by Jasper Cullen to keep the ball inbounds, the Hilltoppers connected another series of passes with a final blast for a hat-trick by Lucas Gomez. Nice footwork by Ari Roberts past Linden’s D with a feed to Anton Ivanov for his second of the game. A misstep by Linden’s keeper led to a smart lob over his head for a second hat-trick for Anton Ivanov. With another 12-man roster, Thomas Campbell and TJ Flack moved from CM to assist Dean Mauriello in the back creating very chances for Linden to shoot leaving Steven Louiseille working tirelessly at CM the entire game. Coach Phil moved to keep away mode, with Linden successfully executing one breakaway goal in the last minutes of the game with a final score of 8-1. Summit remains unbeaten taking on Elizabeth next at home on Tuesday at 4pm at Memorial.
