Hilltopper Football falls to Somerville, 45-22

Summit traveled to Somerville, eager to snap a two game losing streak and build some momentum going into the playoffs. Unfortunately, that was not to be as Somerville used a dominant rushing attack to start quickly and never let up.

The first quarter was all Somerville, scoring on a pair of long runs – one from 17 yards and the other from 63 yards.

Summit battled back in the second quarter, scoring on a 1 yard run and adding a field goal to bring the count as close as 12-9. Somerville closed the half on a long 72 yard scoring run and the Hilltoppers were never able to close the gap.

Somerville added two more rushing scores in the third quarter to extend their lead to 31-9. Summit fired back with a 4th quarter running score, but was unable to narrow the gap further. Somerville closed the scoring on a long 48-yard pass. Final score: 38-15.
