Three gymnasts from SHS qualified to compete at the prestigious NJSIAA North II Sectional Championship on Saturday November 6th featuring girls from 19 schools, totaling 56 individual athletes. Senior captains Mia Murdock and Emma Burke were qualified to compete on all four events and sophomore Jocelyn Harris qualified to compete on floor exercise. The girls hit some of their best routines of the season and ranked well against the best gymnasts in the extremely competitive North II Section. Burke finished just off the podium in 14th place on beam with an 8.825 and was also in contention on floor with an 8.8, which put her 18th. Murdock finished 24th on vault with an 8.65 and 27th on floor with an 8.5. Harris, in her first championship meet ever, finished an impressive 22nd on floor with an 8.7.
Post season honors will be announced later this month at the team’s Awards Celebration.
