After Pingry opened the scoring, Summit rattled off three consecutive goals. First, Taylor Cornell found the back of the net assisted by Bridget Grennon and Lilah Darcy. Grennon added a shorthanded goal in the second period followed by a strike from Ashlyn Messer (assisted by Darcy). After another Pingry goal, Summit took a narrow 3-2 lead into the third period. Goals by Darcy (assisted by Grennon) and Grennon (assisted by Cornell) closed the door – final score, 5-3.
The Summit defense was stout in the victory. Goaltender Lily Spinner stopped 39 shots and the Hilltoppers killed all Pingry power play opportunities.
