The Summit Middle School Girls Basketball Team resumed their 2021-22 schedule looking to build on their pre-holiday break win over Bridgewater, but ultimately fell short. The team got off to a good start with a 5-1 run to open the game on consecutive field goals by Charlotte Yarnall. J.P. Case came back strong in the quarter forcing some turnovers and scoring in transition. Sabrina Camisa added a bucket for the Hilltoppers; but J.P. Case hit a late 3-pointer and the quarter ended with the team down, 11-8.
Yarnall went to the line early in the 2nd and made 1-2. J.P. Case then went on a 9-0 run before the Hilltoppers hit back with a nice layup by Emma Easton on a feed by Emma Ryan. Ryan then hit a 3-pointer and the half ended with J.P. Case up 24-16.
The second half was all J.P. Case as the Hilltoppers could not win the battle of the boards. J.P. Case continued to pressure the ball and cause turnovers, capitalizing on most of them. Yarnall finished with 16 points.
The team will get back at it on Thursday 1/6 @ Readington.
