Summit High School Boys Swim Team competed in the Union County Championship meet held at the Berkeley Aquatic complex on February 6, 2022 and emerged with numerous “best times” amongst its swimmers.
Both Freshmen Aidan Tapia and Charlie Moon took nearly two seconds off of their 200 Freestyle. In the 200 IM, Sophomore Jake Miller eliminated an impressive amount off of his seeded time. Senior Captain Brandon Goldberg cut a half a second off of his 50 Freestyle.
In the 100 Butterfly, Freshman Charlie Vlass shaved almost a half a second from his best time. Later in the meet Sophomore Greg Keenan took six seconds off in the 500 Freestyle. In the 200 Freestyle relay, Sophomore Ethan Kwon, Devin Tapia, Brandon Goldberg and Sophomore Will Moon eliminated close to two seconds from their seeded time and earned a medal as the top third relay in the county.
Rounding out the afternoon, Freshman Jack Vargas, Junior Ryan Smith and Junior Jack Pulgar all cut time from their 100 Backstroke, as did Charlie Vlass and Sophomore Daniel Shirazi in their 100 Breaststroke.
In the final race of the day, the 400 Freestyle relay team of Devin Tapia, Charlie Moon, Ethan Kwon and Will Moon dropped five seconds.
The boys will face off against Hanover Park in the first round of sectionals this Tuesday at the Summit Area YMCA at 3:45pm.
