Summit High School Swim Teams Defeat Scotch Plains-Fanwood

Summit High School’s Girls and Boys swim teams started the season off with a bang as the Hilltoppers handily defeated Scotch Plains-Fanwood in their joint season home openers on Tuesday, December 13. 

The Summit girls are ranked 5th in the state in NJ.com’s Girls Swimming Preseason Top 20 and today, they demonstrated why. With 6 first place finishes and a full sweep of the 50-yd Free by Cecelia Webb, Ella Callahan and Elena Carranza, the girls won 106-64. With the Hilltoppers on a roll, Molly Fagan wasted no time qualifying for the Meet of Champions with a lightning-fast time of 59.75 in the 100-yd Backstroke. Natalie Dripchak then followed with a first place touch in the 100-yd Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:12.85 and securing the victory for Summit.

Not to be outdone, the Summit boys bested SP-F with a final score of 109-61 and 6 first place finishes of their own. Swimmers Ryan Fox, Devin Tapia and Ethan Kwon swept the 50-yd Free and the Boys 200-yd Free Relay team of Kwon, Fox, Charlie Moon and Will Moon took first place and qualified for the Meet of Champions with a time of 1:30.76. Summit swimmers Bennett Harvey, Will Roselle, Etienne Mbuyi, and Jake Miller amped up the excitement by snagging the second place finish in the Boys 200-yd Free Relay to drive home the win.
